My Morning Routine

Earlier this year I began adding one simple exercise into my morning routine that has made such a big difference for me. I don’t remember where the idea came from, but any time I implement it, my days are off to a much better start!

The first thing I do is write down a daily affirmation. This is whatever pops into my head first that affirms me in some way. Some days it’s along the lines of “I love coffee and coffee loves me” and others it’s more like, “God is good. He is good. Always, always good.” Whatever comes to mind first, that’s what I write down.

Next, I write down at least three things that I’m grateful for. Practicing gratitude has probably been the biggest game-changer out of anything, for me!! If I think of more than three things then I’ll keep the list going, but it can’t be less than three. It can be as simple as the sun shining, or as detailed as being grateful that I had a fulfilling conversation with a friend.

The last thing I do is write down the three things that are most important to complete during my day. I’ve found that by only writing down three things, I feel less overwhelmed by my to-do list and can better prioritize. Plus, when I finish those three things I feel so accomplished and much more motivated to work on more!

The whole process takes less than 5 minutes to do and has been an absolute game-changer. Give it a try and see if it makes a difference for you!
